The 66th Contracting Squadron plans to award a sole source contract to Brooks Automation Inc., based in Chelmsford, MA, for the procurement of two CTI Cryo-Torr pumps and one CTI Cryogenics compressor. This acquisition is scheduled for on or about February 8, 2007, and is justified by Brooks Automation’s exclusive ability to supply these specialized items, which have unique specifications and proprietary electronic controls required by ongoing advanced optoelectronic integrated circuit research at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Hanscom Air Force Base. The contract includes three line items: two Cryo-Torr 8 Cryopumps—one with an 8-inch Conflat Flange and another with an 8-inch ANSI Flange, both offering a pumping speed of 4,000 liters per second for water—and one air-cooled CTI Cryogenics Model 8200 Compressor operating at 208 volts and 3-phase power, compatible with the pumps. This notice of contract action is a non-competitive sole source acquisition conducted under FAR regulations and does not serve as a solicitation or request for competitive bids, although the government will consider any responses received within three days of announcement before finalizing the award. It emphasizes that only Contracting Officers have legal authority to commit the government and clarifies that this notice should not be interpreted as a binding commitment. The contract will include clauses effective as per the Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-14. For additional information or questions, contact details are provided for the contracting officer Kathleen Brock.
