The US Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) plans to issue a sole source contract to Meggitt (San Juan Capistrano), Inc. for the procurement of Endevco 7270A accelerometers. Meggitt is the exclusive supplier of this specific accelerometer model, which is integral to the design of the current data recorder packages. Using any alternative product would necessitate significant and costly redesigns of these packages and the associated projectiles, making Meggitt the only viable source for this procurement. This contract will be awarded under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) and will follow simplified acquisition procedures in line with the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 for commercial items. This acquisition is not open for competitive solicitation; however, the government invites all responsible sources to submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations to the Contract Specialist by April 13, 2011, at 5:00 PM CST. Interested parties can submit their information for consideration via the provided government contact email. The contract is categorized under NAICS code 334519, which pertains to other measuring and controlling device manufacturing. The purchase represents a critical component procurement necessary to maintain existing system configurations without incurring prohibitive redesign costs.
