The Department of Veterans Affairs, Louis Stokes Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, intends to enter into a sole-source contract for a PathFusion System, a specialized fluorescent microscope provided by Applied Spectral Imaging, Inc. This decision is based on the contracting officer’s determination that only one source is reasonably available under FAR 13.106. The PathFusion System offers unique features that enhance patient care, including the fastest scanning capability for FISH imaging, dedicated slide trays for maximum slide safety, a 99-slide capacity for increased throughput, and dual scan patterns for faster detection of metaphases and interphases. Additionally, the microscope supports multi-blinded reviewer workflows, enabling simultaneous manual review by multiple readers with automated notifications for result discrepancies. It also allows for re-analysis without the need for re-probing or re-scanning, and integrates with stainer and slide preparation systems for automatic slide information retrieval via barcode. Interested parties with the capability to supply this system may submit their information by June 12, 2019, at 5 PM EST. This information will help the VA determine whether competitive procurement is warranted but carries no obligation or cost to the Government. The contract falls under NAICS code 333314, with a small business size standard of 500 employees. No solicitation is currently available, and all inquiries must be submitted via email to the designated VA contact, referencing the solicitation number and Fluorescent Microscope in the subject line.
