The United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 5, plans to acquire uniquely coded acoustic receivers with Bluetooth capability, sensor cases, and Bluetooth interface software through a sole-source procurement from Amirix Systems, Inc., based in Canada. These products feature a global code space that enables an almost unlimited number of unique pinger and sensor IDs, which effectively prevents duplication. The procurement is based on the unique capabilities of Amirix Systems and is not open to full and open competition. However, other firms that believe they can provide these items with comparable accuracy and reliability are invited to submit a written response within 14 days of the notice’s publication. Interested parties must send their quotations or responses via email to the contracting officer, Christine Beauregard. The notice emphasizes consideration of all responsible sources, allowing for fair evaluation despite the sole-source designation. The procurement falls under NAICS code 335999 and is managed by the Department of the Interior’s Fish and Wildlife Service Headquarters office, located in Falls Church, Virginia. This acquisition is designed to support specialized monitoring needs requiring distinctive and reliable identification technology that only the specified vendor is believed to provide.
