The US Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (MRICD) intends to award a sole-source contract for the purchase of one Olympus CKX41 Microscope, necessary to maintain compatibility and continuity with an existing microscope for ongoing research and imaging analysis. This procurement is justified under federal regulations allowing non-competitive awards when only one responsible source exists, in this case, Olympus Scientific Solutions Americas, Inc. The contract will be firm fixed price and falls under NAICS code 423450 for Medical, Dental, and Hospital Equipment and Supplies Merchant Wholesalers, with a business size standard of 100 employees. This notice is not a solicitation for competitive quotations but invites any interested parties capable of meeting the unique specifications to submit capability statements within six days of the publication date, by May 6, 2015. All submissions must be in writing and sent via email to the designated point of contact, adhering to specific email formatting instructions to avoid filtering. Responses will help determine whether a competitive procurement will be pursued, though the government intends to negotiate solely with Olympus Scientific Solutions Americas, Inc. Contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) prior to award. Only one contract award will result from this notice.
