The contract pertains to an upgrade kit for Torque Wrench Testers currently in the Air Force inventory, specifically targeting the item with NSN 6635-01-327-4461 and P/N TFC2000-0-03, manufactured by Consolidated Devices Inc. Originally planned as a small business set-aside with a long-term contract and yearly estimated quantities of around 25 units over five years, this requirement has been revised. Due to unresolved issues surrounding the upgrade requirements and the absence of necessary data from the Government for the upgrade, the long-term contract requirement is suspended, and the small business set-aside has been dissolved for the immediate requirement. As a result, the immediate need will be met through a sole source, one-time purchase directly from the original equipment manufacturer, Consolidated Devices, Inc., located in City of Industry, California. The upgrade kit will include transducers, a 4-in-1 transducer mounting adapter, an indicator with associated accessories such as cables and connectors, and other specified components. The solicitation with detailed specifications was to be released, but with the current update, the focus is on fulfilling the Government’s immediate requirement via a sole source acquisition rather than through a competitive, small business set-aside process. The contracting officer for this procurement is Robert J Mitchell II.
