UNC-CH_LEGEND_RFP_2026The Department of Physics and Astronomy at UNC-Chapel Hill is seeking quotations for the final design and budgetary or proof-of-concept development of five custom nitrogen-purged gloveboxes to support the LEGEND project, a large-scale experiment focused on neutrinoless double-beta decay using enriched germanium. These gloveboxes must be engineered to maintain ultra-high purity environments to prevent contamination of sensitive detector components, requiring precise control over moisture and oxygen levels, and must meet stringent protocols for material compatibility, leak-tight integrity, and long-term operational reliability under experimental conditions. Interested vendors must submit responses by the deadline of August 4, 2026, with all inquiries directed to Lynn Barello as the primary point of contact. The opportunity is open to qualified contractors without specific set-aside requirements and the work is anticipated to be performed at or delivered to facilities in North Carolina.
