The Department of Veterans Affairs in Columbia, South Carolina, intends to award a sole source contract to Alliant Enterprises, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business and the authorized reseller for Olympus America, Inc. microscopes and related parts. The contract covers the supply of specific Olympus microscope components including frames, LED illumination units, eyepieces, condensers, power cords, and a centering telescope. The estimated award date is June 30, 2021. Alliant Enterprises is currently the only authorized distributor recognized for these products and holds the necessary credentials under the applicable NAICS code 333314, which pertains to microscope manufacturing with a business size standard of 500 employees. Because market research showed no other eligible SDVOSB or VOSB vendors capable of providing these exact Olympus products, the government is utilizing the authority under FAR 13.106-1 to conduct a sole source award. While this notice is not a request for competitive proposals, the government will review any evidence submitted within five days of the notice publication from other offerors claiming to be authorized resellers or offering brand-equal products. Proposals must demonstrate matching salient characteristics to the Olympus items and proof of SDVOSB/VOSB status as registered in the VetBiz Portal. Firms must also be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) to be eligible for contract award. The contracting officer for this procurement is Iman Dillard, who can be contacted for further information.
