The Naval Experimental Diving Unit (NEDU) in Panama City, Florida, plans to award a firm-fixed price contract competitively to qualified vendors for a Tri-Gas Mixer designed for mixed gas diver life support systems. The mixer will blend breathing-grade Helium, Oxygen, and Nitrogen gases with adjustable percentages to fit into the existing space measuring 38 inches by 28 inches by 88 inches and connect to current gas lines. It must integrate with the existing Corblin Compressor and the existing piping system using ½ inch Swagelock fittings. Key specifications include mixing capability for gases with flow rates between 4.2 to 200 standard cubic feet per minute, maximum inlet and outlet pressures of 3,000 psi, oxygen analysis by paramagnetic detection with ±0.5% accuracy, and a control system featuring a PLC with a color touchscreen interface. The system will have designated placards on all key components, such as valves and regulators, in line with operational instructions. Government-furnished equipment includes the necessary piping, fittings, calibration gases, and electrical power supply (110 VAC). Interested contractors were invited to a site visit scheduled for early September 2012, with participation requiring prior registration for base access. Questions were to be submitted in writing by a specified deadline, and the solicitation was expected to be released electronically shortly after the site visit, with contract award anticipated by the end of September 2012.
