The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is conducting market research through a Sources Sought/Request for Information (RFI) to identify qualified contractors capable of providing Sonet Ring equipment and related services for the Austin Information Technology Center (AITC) in Austin, Texas. This tentative acquisition includes the provision, setup, and 12 months of support for Sonet Ring service equipment, as detailed in an attached list of equipment. The RFI serves solely as a tool for planning and information gathering, with no existing Request for Quotations (RFQ) or contract award at this stage. The VA may use the responses to determine potential vendors but makes no commitment to issue an RFQ or award a contract. Interested parties are encouraged to respond with relevant capabilities and may optionally include pricing information, but participation does not guarantee any financial reimbursement or contractual obligation by the VA. All responses are to be submitted by July 24, 2012, to the designated contact. Proprietary information must be clearly marked, and respondents bear all costs for preparing their submissions. The anticipated timeline suggests a formal RFQ could be released within three weeks following this notice, but this is not assured. This action is identified under solicitation number VA118A12I0200 and relates to the NAICS code 517110 for telecommunications services.
