The Maritime Administration (MARAD), under the Department of Transportation, issued a notice of intent to award a sole source contract, number 6991PE23P000018, to Global Fire and Safety Inc. for the annual fire and safety services of the TS Golden Bear (TSGB) vessel located in Vallejo, California. This procurement, conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302 and NAICS code 238990, was designated as a sole source due to the urgency of the requirement and the vendor's status as an authorized servicer for existing systems. These services were critical to ensuring the vessel met USCG and ABS regulatory requirements prior to its activation in May 2023. The estimated cost for the FY23 annual fire safety inspections and servicing was 110,200.00 dollars, with a required completion date of April 30, 2023. While the government provided an opportunity for other interested parties to demonstrate their capabilities by May 2, 2023, the award was specifically targeted toward Global Fire and Safety Inc. to maintain compliance and operational readiness for the vessel. The contract was managed by Contracting Officer Healon Knight and COR/Marine Surveyor Andrew Barry.
