The Headquarters Standard System Group (SSG) is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) to identify Software Asset Management (SAM) tools that can efficiently manage software assets across the NIPRnet and SIPRnet networks. The objective is to establish a comprehensive “cradle-to-grave” process for software management covering Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) licenses. The SAM tools sought should facilitate compliance improvement, automate reporting requirements to various oversight bodies, and unify software management across disparate Air Force activities. Critical features include customizable software searches, detailed and summary reporting, automated license-to-contract association, compatibility with multiple operating systems and device types, enterprise-wide accurate data collection, web-based access and visibility for authorized personnel, and hardware auto-discovery. Additionally, these tools must store and exchange data via an ODBC-compliant database and support a detailed set of data fields for comprehensive contract and license management. Respondents are requested to provide information on their key SAM products, pricing, numbers of licenses currently maintained within the Department of Defense, Coast Guard, and intelligence communities, along with recent and projected revenues and customer points of contact where available. Preference may be given to software publishers or resellers holding General Services Administration (GSA) multiple-award schedule contracts for possible Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs). The submission deadline is February 27, 2004, and all submitted information will be treated as business-sensitive and For Official Use Only. This RFI is strictly for information gathering and does not imply any obligation by the Air Force to purchase or compensate for submitted materials. Contacts for inquiries are provided for 2Lt Johnson and Mr. Elgin at the Maxwell Air Force Base-Gunter Annex.
