Caltrans has approved an encroachment permit for Southern California Edison to conduct two potholing excavations along State Route 1 at Post Mile 17.64 in Redondo Beach, Los Angeles County, to gather substructure data for a future traffic signal installation. The excavations will be located at the designated sites for a future Tower Steel Pole and a future vault, with each limited to a maximum depth of 156 inches, a width of 24 inches, and a length of 22 linear feet. All work must occur within Caltrans right-of-way and will be accompanied by temporary traffic control measures. The excavations must be fully backfilled upon completion, and no utility relocation or new right-of-way acquisition is required.
