Caltrans District 7 has approved an encroachment permit for Charter Communications to execute a conduit placement project on State Route 605 at postmile 8.286 in Norwalk, Los Angeles County. The scope of work includes boring 106 feet to install PVC conduit, placing a CATV vault and a bore/receiving pit, and performing a pothole excavation to locate existing utilities. The project also requires the removal and replacement of a full flag of concrete and the implementation of temporary traffic control activities. Technical specifications for the excavation include a maximum depth of 48 inches, an average width of 12 inches, and a maximum length of 106 feet. This project will not require the relocation of public utilities or the acquisition of new right-of-way. The initiative is managed by Caltrans under the title Conduit Placement Project, with primary coordination handled by the District 7 encroachment permits office.
