74--SPECIAL NOTICE OF INTENT - CANON, USA (UNITECH OF VICKSBURG, INC.) - PURCHASE OF TWO (2) C7260G CANON COLOR PRINTERS.

Notice of Intent to Sole Source ERDC Contracting intends to solicit on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106 to CANON, USA (UNITECH OF VICKSBURG, INC.). This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). Canon, USA is the only known source that can provide two (2) Canon C7260G color printers capable of meeting the Government's needs. These color printers are for use in the Coastal Hydraulics Laboratory. They will be used by researchers and support staff. The current printers in CHL are becoming unreliable, and the maintenance contract is set to expire 25 June 2015. In order to provide uninterrupted access to reliable printers, it is essential that the purchase take place in an expeditious manner. To minimize downtime, it is necessary that these printers be purchased and maintained locally, by Unitech of Vicksburg, Inc. They are the only large scale printer company in the area that does on-site repair. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 12:00 p.m. CST on May 19, 2015. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. No RFP will be issued based upon this Notice of Intent.
