AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of five units of a specific part identified as NSN 6K-8145-013574413-SY under the reference number 581E001. Delivery terms stipulate FOB origin, and the part is considered flight critical, requiring stringent engineering source approval from the designated design control activity to maintain its quality and performance. Due to the unique design, engineering expertise, and manufacturing knowledge possessed by the currently approved source(s), acquisition or repair must come from these authorized entities. These sources hold essential proprietary data and technical knowledge that are not economically feasible for the Government to duplicate, making alternate source qualification subject to rigorous government-approved procedures. Only government-approved sources were solicited for this award, as the approval process for new sources is typically time-consuming and cannot delay contract performance. Potential new sources must submit detailed technical documentation as outlined in the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Source Approval Information Brochures at the time of proposal. Failure to provide this information will result in disqualification. In cases where source approval cannot be obtained in a timely manner, contract award decisions may prioritize fleet support requirements to avoid operational delays. The solicitation is managed by the Department of Defense through the DLA Aviation office in Philadelphia, with proposals due by June 22, 2026. The procurement ensures strict adherence to quality and engineering standards, reflecting the criticality of the part in its operational environment.
