The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is seeking information from industry regarding tamper-evident and tamper-resistant security seals, including labels, tape, and locks, intended to enhance the security of air cargo throughout the supply chain. This Request for Information (RFI) aims to gather detailed descriptions of products that can securely seal various types of cargo, such as individual boxes, pallets, shrink-wrapped items, and containers. Respondents are asked to provide information on their product offerings, including physical characteristics, materials, customization options, embedded technology like barcodes or RFID, and their durability under different environmental conditions. Additionally, TSA seeks details on how tampering is visibly evident, recommended implementation strategies for security seals, availability, production lead times, and any other relevant cargo security products manufactured by the company. This RFI is intended solely for market research and planning purposes and does not represent a commitment by the Government to purchase or enter into a contract. No proprietary information should be included, and respondents bear all costs for their submissions, which will not be returned. Responses are limited to 15 pages and must be submitted by January 25, 2006, either electronically or via physical delivery to TSA personnel in Arlington, VA. Companies may also submit physical samples of their products along with identifying information to assist in evaluation. The collected data will help TSA explore effective options for strengthening air cargo security through tamper-evident and tamper-resistant technologies.
