The U.S. Army's Natick Contracting Division, acting on behalf of the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical Biological Defense, plans to negotiate and award a sole-source contract to AirBoss Defense for approximately 440,000 pairs of the Joint Service Lightweight Integrated Suit Technology (JSLIST) Block 2 Glove Upgrade non-Flame Resistant variant. These gloves are a critical component of the JSLIST protective ensemble, designed to offer 24-hour chemical and biological protection against known warfare agents, even after 30 days of wear. The gloves feature a molded outer layer made from compounded butyl rubber and a removable inner liner, enhancing tactility, dexterity, and comfort, and are suitable for use in all climates. AirBoss Defense is the sole capable supplier of this specific glove due to its unique manufacturing capabilities that meet strict government requirements. Efforts to identify and certify additional sources would require extensive time and resources, likely taking around two years. This sole-source action follows the Federal Acquisition Regulation guidelines and reflects the urgency and specialized nature of the procurement. The contract synopsis provides contact information for inquiries and indicates the offer’s validity until the end of July 2011.

The JB2GU nFR is a hand wear component of the JSLIST ensemble that will provide 24 hours of chemical/biological (CB) protection from liquid, vapor, and aerosol battlefield concentrations of all known CB warfare agents (CWAs) after 30 days of wear. The JB2GU nFR gloves are comprised of a molded outer glove made from compounded butyl rubber and a removable inner liner.
