The United States Coast Guard plans to award a sole source contract to Megapulse Inc. of North Billerica, Massachusetts, for upgrading and maintaining the Accufix 7500 transmitter. This action is necessary because the existing hardware and software are proprietary to Megapulse, and only they are authorized to perform the required modifications. The upgrades are part of the Loran-C system recapitalization, enabling the transmitter's integration with the larger system to meet enhanced signal performance and reliability standards. The contract will span one year and is justified under the authority that only one responsible source can provide the necessary services without causing substantial duplication of government costs or unacceptable delays. The contract, referenced under solicitation number HSCG23-06-R-TFK402, will be managed by the Homeland Security's Headquarters Contract Operations office in Washington, D.C., with Diane L. Bethea serving as the contract specialist. This notice does not constitute a request for proposals and no solicitation documents are available. The acquisition falls under NAICS code 334511, which relates to the manufacturing of electronic components. The sole source award is in accordance with federal acquisition regulations to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of the critical transmitter upgrade and support.
