99--Extension/Ceiling Increase for Metron Aviation, Inc. Contract DTFAWA-07-C-00008

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) intends to extend contract DTFAWA-07-C-00008 with Metron Aviation, Inc, of Herndon, Virginia. Metron provides Concept Engineering and Development (CED) support to the Collaborative Air Traffic Management Technologies (CATMT) Program. The Metron contract was awarded for the period January 5, 2007 through September 30, 2007 as a "bridge contract," an interim means of getting necessary work done while completing a competitive procurement for a new CED contract. The procurement plan at that time proposed an award date of June 30, 2007. However, due to extensive rework and coordination on the statement of work, the original estimated award date of June 30, 2007 has been extended to November 12, 2007. We therefore intend to extend the Metron Bridge contract for a period of two months, from September 30, 2007 to November 30, 2007, with an option for another three months to allow for transition of work in the event a new contractor is selected. As a result of extending the Metron bridge contract a maximum of five additional months, the contract ceiling amount of $3,273,434.00 is increased by $1,500,000.00 to $4,773,000.00 to cover the extended period of performance, and the potential transition period.
