Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under the U.S. Department of Energy, is seeking industry partners to commercialize its innovative RadNet radiation detection technology. This system integrates sensitive hybrid solid-state detectors with cellular telephones, enabling real-time detection and location tracking of radioactive materials across designated areas. A prototype with limited functionality was tested in May 2003, with a full prototype expected to undergo field trials by January 2004. LLNL is also interested in collaborative research efforts to enhance the technology and explore additional applications. This announcement is not a procurement but an invitation for companies interested in commercializing the technology to submit a written statement of interest within 30 days of the announcement date. Companies must provide their name, contact information, and a description of their relevant expertise and facilities. Submissions should be directed to LLNL’s Industrial Partnerships and Commercialization office. This effort aims to foster partnerships that will bring this cutting-edge radiation detection network to market, leveraging industry capabilities to expand and improve the technology’s use.
