AI Contract Overview

The Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically the White River Junction Medical Center, has issued a single source award for fidelity monitoring services to support a Randomized Clinical Trial. The project requires a senior clinician to review and rate approximately 110 audio recordings from 17 different sites to ensure that study therapists are adhering to treatment protocols and demonstrating competence in both Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure therapy. Dr. XXX was selected as the sole source for this requirement due to her national expertise in both specific therapies and her existing collaboration on the project. The justification notes that she is already familiar with the study's standard operating procedures, secure data access requirements, and fidelity protocols. Market research indicated that other potential candidates lacked the necessary dual certification or were already employed by the VA, and the agency determined that training a new monitor would cause unacceptable delays of six months to a year.
