AI Contract Overview

Battelle Energy Alliance, the prime operating contractor for the Department of Energy at the Idaho National Laboratory, is seeking an industrial partner to enter into a license agreement for the commercialization of a specialized decontamination foam and clay system. This technology is designed for chemical, biological, or radiological decontamination, allowing cleaning agents to remain in contact with vertical surfaces for extended periods. The system can also serve as a temporary trap to prevent the release of contaminants and protect personnel from airborne exposure until remediation is complete. The materials are water soluble, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly, which simplifies the final disposal process. This opportunity is specifically for the commercialization of the technology through a license agreement and is not a request for the provision of goods or services to the Department of Energy or Battelle Energy Alliance. Interested companies must contact Gary W. Smith, Senior Account Executive for Technology Transfer and Commercialization, to discuss potential partnerships. The solicitation period is limited to 30 days following its publication.

Full Description

Battelle Energy Alliance (BEA), the prime operating contractor for the Department of Energy at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking an industrial partner interested in entering into a license agreement for the purpose of commercializing its decontamination foam and clay system. Bench scale testing of our decontamination clay/foam formulation permits extended contact between decontamination chemicals and surfaces to be decontaminated has already been completed. This clay/foam decontamination system remains in contact with vertical surfaces for many hours. It can be applied with a wide variety of cleaning agents, chemicals and additives for chemical, biological or radiological decontamination or treatment. This clay/foam system may also be used to temporarily trap contaminants and prevents their transfer or release for an extended time period (days) until an approved remediation plan is finalized. Once applied, clay and foam cover contaminants and protect personnel from airborne exposure to contaminated surfaces. It is water soluble and can be easily removed. These materials are made of non-toxic and environmentally friendly components making final disposal less problematic. This is not an opportunity to provide goods or services to BEA or the DOE. This solicitation will close to responses 30 days after publication. Companies interested in discussing commercialization of this technology should contact: Gary W. Smith, Sr. Account Executive, Technology Transfer and Commercialization, Battelle Energy Alliance, P. O. Box 1625, MS 3805 Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805; E-mail is contact@example.gov
