NASA/JSC has a requirement for a Flouropolymer re-sealable zipper bag with a uniquezipper style closure to improve storage capability. NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Welch Fluorocarbon Inc. After an extensivemarket research, only Welch Fluorocarbon was identified that met NASA's specification andprogram requirements. The bag is based on a proprietary design for an extrudedflouropolymer zipper style closure. Various companies have been contacted in regards tothe feasible developmental capability of providing such a product. The only source thathas proven to posses the capabilities to meet our requirements is Welch Fluorocarbon. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon 8/16/2011. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purposeof determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
