The US Army Contracting Command-Redstone plans to award a sole source, firm fixed price contract to IPG Photonics Corporation for the delivery of a commercial High Energy 50KW Laser System. This contract includes providing the laser system itself, thermal control components, a beam delivery method, and sufficient operator training to enable technicians to operate the laser independently. The system and related components will be delivered to the White Sands Missile Range at the High Energy Laser System Test Facility, with an expected delivery timeframe of approximately 12 weeks after contract award. This acquisition is justified under the statutory authority allowing for non-competitive procurement because IPG Photonics is identified as the only responsible source capable of meeting the agency’s specific requirements. Although this notice signals intent for a sole-source award, all responsible sources may respond within 15 days, but the government retains discretion not to compete the contract based on these responses. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 333992, with a size standard of 500 employees, and the contract will be managed from the Contracting Office at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, with Chris Katterheinrich as the primary point of contact.
