The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is planning to negotiate a sole source contract modification with Integrated Laboratory Systems, Inc. to increase the level of effort by approximately 8,210 hours under specific federal acquisition regulations. This contract supports two main projects: the first involves technical and laboratory work for screening about 10,000 samples to measure the expression of the TTP gene using Sybr Green analysis. The contractor is responsible for isolating RNA from RAW cells, conducting two-step reactions (RT to produce cDNA followed by PCR for Sybr Green analysis) in 384-well plates, and delivering data outputs including Ct values in Excel spreadsheets and graphical representations. The second project focuses on the Environmental Polymorphism Study, where the contractor provides both study management and technical support. This includes working with clinical staff to recruit and consent approximately 19,500 participants at UNC-affiliated clinics, managing blood sample collection, packaging, transport, and subsequent DNA isolation and SNP analysis. Additionally, the contractor will maintain comprehensive study records and data, develop databases, archive consent forms and necessary documentation, and track sample processing and storage. This modification enhances the contractor’s role to ensure efficient execution and data management for these extensive research efforts.
