TACOM INTENDS TO NEGOTIATE AND AWARD ON A SOLE-SOURCE BASIS TO SEA, INC A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF TEST EQUIPMENT FOR DEVELOPING ACCURATE VEHICLE MODELS THROUGH CHARACTERIZING PERFORMANCE OF A VEHICLE?S SUSPENSION SYSTEM. THE PRIMARY GOAL OF THIS PROJECT IS THE DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT, AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE SUSPENSION CHARACTERIZATION TEST FIXTURE (SCTF). THE SCTF SOFTWARE MUST WORK IN CONCERT WITH THE CURRENT IN-HOUSE VEHICLE INERTIA PARAMETER EVALUATION RIG (VIPER) SOFTWARE ON OUR VIPER HARDWARE TO PRODUCE COLLABORATIVE OUTPUT DATA IN ORDER TO DEVELOP FIELD-ACCURATE VEHICLE MODELS AND TO ADEQUATELY PREDICT IN-FIELD VEHICLE PERFORMANCE. SEA, LTD HAS PROPRIETARY RIGHTS TO THE VIPER AND ITS SOFTWARE. THE GOAL IS TO IMPROVE THE SAFETY OF TACTICAL TRUCKS AND OTHER CRITICAL VEHICLE SYSTEMS.
