A -- United States Renal Data System - Quality of Life/Rehabilitation Special Studies Center

The National Institute of Diabetes, and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health, plans to extend the United States Renal Data System - Quality of Life/Rehabilitation Special Studies Center contract with Emory University by 1 3/4 months. This extension will move the contract’s end date from September 9, 2006, to October 29, 2006, ensuring that the completion timelines for all related USRDS contracts—including the Coordination Center and the four Special Studies Centers—are aligned. The contract requires the USRDS-QOL/Rehab SSC to conduct the Comprehensive Dialysis Study (CDS) and other specialized data studies using national and regional samples from the USRDS Coordinating Center, as well as existing data from the USRDS database. The extension is critical for completing the CDS, which is a collaborative effort involving the Coordinating Center and all Special Studies Centers, as synchronization of their performance periods is necessary for successful project conclusion. The modification will be negotiated under the authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulation Clause 52.243-2 Changes – Cost Reimbursement, Alternate V, reflecting the contractual flexibility to accommodate changes for cost-reimbursement contracts. This adjustment supports the consistent and thorough execution of data collection and analysis activities integral to the USRDS mission.
