The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (USASMDC/ARSTRAT) is seeking to advance its Nano-Satellite Program (SNaP) by completing the development of its spacecraft and ground stations as part of a Joint Capabilities Technology Demonstration (JCTD). This initiative includes building three new spacecraft and two additional ground stations, incorporating insights and lessons learned from previously deployed SNaP assets. The program also involves providing mission support for a National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) rideshare. This effort is a direct continuation of prior work under a previous contract and is intended to ensure enhanced capabilities in space-based missile defense and reconnaissance technologies. The government plans to award this contract through sole-source negotiations with Miltec Corporation, a subsidiary of Ducommun, Incorporated, based in Huntsville, Alabama. This decision is based on the unique qualifications and prior involvement of Miltec, which are deemed essential to meet program requirements without incurring delays and additional costs. The procurement is restricted to U.S. firms only, pursuant to federal acquisition regulations that authorize sole-source awards when only one source is capable of fulfilling the need. Although this notice is not a formal solicitation, interested parties can respond within 15 days via the provided email, but responses by phone or fax will not be accepted. The contract aims to support continuation and enhancement of USASMDC/ARSTRAT’s space and missile defense capabilities with a focus on leveraging existing technology and knowledge.
