The filter covered by this specification is intended for laboratory testing of the AN/AAR-44B missile warning receiver. The AN/AAR-44B generally is sensitive to infrared light in the 3 to 5 micron band and uses sophisticated spectral criteria to discriminate between threats and clutter. Laboratory infrared sources that produce well-characterized blackbody spectra are commercially available, whereas sources that meet the AN-AAR-44B criteria are not readily available. This requirement will be sole source to L-3 Communications Cincinnati Electronics, Mason OH 45040, cage code 80045, under authority 10 U.S.C. 2304(C) (1), Justification: "Supplies or services are available from only one or a limited number of sources and no other type of supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements ". This order will be for one time, stand alone. This task will not be solicited publicly.
