Addendum No. 1 to the 2019 Hillcrest LRDP EIR for the Outpatient Pavilion and Parking Project

The Hillcrest Medical Center Renewal project is the next phase of redevelopment under the 2019 Long Range Development Plan for the UC San Diego Health Hillcrest campus, aiming to replace the existing hospital with a new 300-bed facility that meets current seismic standards and enhances patient care delivery. This replacement hospital will preserve and expand essential services, with a focus on maintaining access for underserved communities while modernizing infrastructure to support advanced medical treatment. A Central Utilities Plant will also be constructed to support the new facility’s operations. Although this phase is part of a broader development plan previously evaluated in the 2019 LRDP Environmental Impact Report, this specific action is being advanced under an addendum that addresses the Outpatient Pavilion and Parking Project, indicating alignment with prior environmental review without triggering additional public review under CEQA guidelines. The project is being managed by the University of California, San Diego, with planning and environmental oversight led by the Principal Environmental Planner based in San Diego, California.
