The Naval Sea Systems Command plans to issue a solicitation to Huntington Ingalls Industries, Ingalls Shipbuilding, located in Pascagoula, Mississippi, for the advanced procurement of long lead-time material (LLTM) required for the construction of the LPD 28 Amphibious Transport Docking ship. The procurement will be conducted on a sole source basis under RFP N00024-15-R-2431 due to Ingalls’ unique expertise and experience with the San Antonio (LPD 17) Class ship platform, which is essential for timely and efficient acquisition of these materials. This action is intended to support the early stages of construction to ensure the availability of critical components well in advance. The solicitation was posted in early February 2015 and is associated with the NAICS code 336611, which covers shipbuilding and repairing. The work will take place at Ingalls Shipbuilding’s facility in Pascagoula, MS, and the point of contact for this procurement is Kerry L. Knapp, reachable via email and phone. This notification serves primarily for subcontracting purposes, indicating that while the contract is sole source, there may be opportunities for subcontractors under this procurement effort. The advanced procurement of LLTM is a crucial step in adhering to the project's schedule and avoiding delays in the delivery of the LPD 28 ship.
