World Trade Center Youth Research Coordinating Center (U54)The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is preparing to award a U54 cooperative agreement to establish a World Trade Center Youth Research Coordinating Center. This initiative responds to a 2022 congressional mandate requiring the WTC Health Program to create a research cohort of individuals who were 21 years old or younger, including those exposed in utero, at the time of the September 11, 2001 attacks, and who were within a defined proximity to the WTC site. The Center’s primary mission is to build and sustain this cohort to enable long-term studies on the health and educational consequences of early-life exposure to 9/11-related environmental hazards, with a focus on developmental, cognitive, and lifelong health outcomes. It will integrate multidisciplinary expertise in epidemiology, environmental health, data management, and community engagement to ensure robust, representative research. The Center will operate through four core functions: planning, administration, and evaluation; information technology and data management; communication, outreach, and community engagement; and direct research activities. Community involvement is foundational, with an emphasis on transparent stakeholder communication and inclusive participation. The project aims to close critical knowledge gaps regarding how early exposure to the 9/11 disaster affects individuals across their lifespan, providing evidence to inform public health strategies and support services for affected populations. The funding opportunity is forecasted to be posted on July 31, 2026, and inquiries may be directed to the designated scientific program official at the CDC.

Implementation Research on Coordinated Combinations of Community-Clinical Linkage Strategies for Diabetes Prevention and ManagementDiabetes is a significant public health burden in the United States, contributing to substantial illness, mortality, and healthcare costs, with Federally Qualified Health Centers and other safety-net clinics serving populations at heightened risk. This initiative seeks to advance understanding of how coordinated combinations of community-clinical linkage strategies can be effectively implemented to improve diabetes prevention and management in real-world primary care settings. While individual strategies have demonstrated benefits, there is limited knowledge about how to integrate multiple approaches in a synergistic manner, and this research aims to uncover the facilitators and barriers to adopting, integrating, and sustaining these combined interventions. The program will conduct implementation research within actual FQHCs to generate practical, actionable evidence that can inform scalable best practices. The focus is on identifying the factors that influence the successful adoption and long-term viability of coordinated community-clinical linkages, with the goal of strengthening diabetes care in underserved communities. Led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under the Department of Health and Human Services, this effort is designed to produce insights that bridge the gap between research and practice, ultimately supporting more effective, system-level approaches to tackling diabetes in high-need populations.

The Coordinating Agricultural Development & Innovation (CADI) initiative, funded through an interagency agreement between the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service and the State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, aims to enhance U.S. agricultural trade competitiveness in Eastern Europe (non-E.U.), the South Caucasus, and Central Asia. The program supports a portfolio of projects focused on removing trade barriers, expanding market access, and promoting U.S. agricultural exports through technical assistance, training, and data-driven interventions. The work will deliver annual and final economic impact reports, quarterly briefings to USDA/FAS leadership, and country-specific success stories detailing achievements in barrier removal and exporter support. Key economic outcomes are tracked at the country level, including specific targets for wheat, poultry, soybeans, distilled spirits, and livestock genetics in Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, with Ukraine accounting for the bulk of the projected economic activity through sustained export flows and market share gains. The contract requires the awardee to conduct original research and provide actionable recommendations aligned with the America First trade agenda, with performance spanning from November 1, 2026, through September 30, 2028, and potential for extension. The awardee must include four one-week international TDY trips to target regions and four domestic trips in their budget, while ensuring all personnel with access to non-public information complete a Public Trust (Moderate Risk)—T2 background investigation issued by USDA prior to beginning work.
