The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Cabin Safety Research Team performs research vital to providing a scientific basis for FAA regulations and guidance on the design and operation of transport category aircraft. The construction of a new Aircraft Cabin Research Facility (ACRF) has modernized and upgraded the research equipment capability, allowing for expansion of the research program through designed flexibility. This flexibility has governed the direction of facility function, as well as its ultimate form.
