Contract Overview
Solicitation details, issuing organization, response deadlines, documents, and interested companies for this government contract opportunity.
AI Contract Overview
The Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), specifically the Information Technology Laboratory’s Quantum Information Group, is conducting market research to identify potential commercial sources capable of providing advanced AMD Zynq-brand field-programmable gate array (FPGA) equipment and related components to support their research in quantum information routing and detection. The key item of interest is the AMD Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC ZCU111 Evaluation Board, including detailed specifications such as the XCZU28DR RFSoC chip, integrated DDR4 memory, diverse interface options (USB3, DisplayPort, SATA), advanced transceivers, and expansion capabilities through FPGA Mezzanine Card interfaces. Additional required components include the XM500 RFMC Balun add-on card, specific low-pass and band-pass filters, an SD card, various SMA and USB cables, Ethernet cables, and power cords/adapters. Respondents are asked to provide detailed company information, product specifics, manufacturing origin, and reseller status, along with compliance details regarding the draft specifications. The notice emphasizes that proprietary information should not be included, and responses should be concise, no longer than three pages. This solicitation is strictly a market research effort without commitment to award or payment, intended to inform future solicitations. Companies must be registered and active in the System for Award Management (SAM) to be considered for potential future contracting. Interested parties are also encouraged to suggest improvements to the requirements and identify relevant Federal Supply Schedule contracts if applicable. Questions must be submitted by mid-June 2026, and any amendments in response to questions will be shared publicly to ensure a competitive process.

Full Description
The purpose of this sources sought notice is to conduct market research and identify potential sources of commercial equipment/services that satisfy the Government’s anticipated needs.
BACKGROUND
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Information Technology Laboratory (ITL) Quantum Information Group applies expertise in mathematical subdisciplines such as combinatorics, graph theory, network science, operations research, optimization, discrete nonlinear dynamics, computational geometry, quantum mechanics, and information theory. Researchers apply their knowledge and skills in areas such as the experimental quantum optics, fundamental models of physics, chemistry, biology, and information systems, complex systems analysis, pattern recognition, and quantum computing and communications. Quantum information routing and detection in deployed optical fibers require state-of-the-art field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) to be able to process single-photon detection information and make decisions that are comparable with the speed of light in optical fibers.
