This update posts draft project drawings and trail logs. This informaton is being provided for awarness of project requirements. Questions may be submitted to the contracting officer at mari.meiners@usda.gov ************************ This is a presolicitation notice for the Anan Observatory Trail Reconstruction project. Work involves reconstruction of the Anan Wildlife Observatory Trail. Anan Wildlife Observatory is located about 30 air miles southeast of Wrangell and 60 air miles northeast of Ketchikan on mainland Alaska's Cleveland Peninsula, in the Wrangell Ranger District of the Tongass National Forest. It is usually accessed by boat from Wrangell and by floatplane from Ketchikan. Major work items include demolition of existing step-and-run boardwalk trail and a small outbuilding, installation of trail structutures including aggregate surfacing, log retaining structures, concrete steps, type-A boardwalk, type B (step-and-run) boardwalk and rock retaining walls. Option items include removal and replacement of trail bridges. The successful contractor will be permitted to rent the Anan Bay cabin through the online reservation system for use during the project. No dogs are permitted at the work site. Work is anticipated to be prohibited during the period mid-June to mid-September because of the high use by tour companies and guides. Period of performance will extend through fall 2020. Magnitude of Construction is estimated between $250,000 and $500,000.
