Aragon High School Softball Field Turf Project

The San Mateo Union High School District is initiating the Aragon High School Softball Field Turf Project, located at 900 Alameda de las Pulgas in San Mateo, California. This project involves the modernization of the existing softball field on the northeast side of the campus, specifically at the corner of Woodland Drive and Alameda de las Pulgas. The scope of work includes the installation of new synthetic artificial turf, lighting, fencing, a scoreboard, and bleachers, as well as the addition of batting cages and a storage shed. Additionally, the project requires the realignment of the outfield fence and the provision of a portable public address system. Construction is scheduled to take place between June and September 2027. To comply with District Board Policy 7325, field lighting must be completely off by 9:30 pm, and the portable public address system is restricted to a maximum volume of 65 decibels during games. The project is classified under NAICS code 236220 and has been granted CEQA Categorical Exemptions under Sections 15301 and 15302, as it constitutes the rehabilitation of an existing facility without expanding its capacity.
