Introduction: The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is the U.S. Department of Energy's primary national laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development. NREL develops renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and practices, advances related science and engineering, and transfers knowledge and innovations to address the nation's energy and environment goals. The Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC (hereinafter called - Alliance) has entered into Contract with the Department of Energy (hereinafter called "DOE"), an agency of the U.S. Government (hereinafter called "Government"), for the management and operation of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (hereinafter called - NREL). Each of the awarded TOAs is expected to include one (1) twelve (12) month basic period with four (4) additional twelve (12) month option periods. A Task Ordering Agreement is similar to a BPA (Basic Purchase Agreement) or IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity) Contract.
