Fire Alarm engineering for Lewis County
Solicitation # 2026-RFQ-040
Lewis County is soliciting qualifications under solicitation 2026-RFQ-040 for a professional engineering firm to provide comprehensive design and engineering services for fire alarm systems. The project encompasses several County-owned facilities, including the IT Building, Historic Courthouse, Health Building, and Lewis County Jail. The selected firm will be responsible for conducting on-site evaluations to determine the remaining useful life of existing systems, assessing code compliance with NFPA 72, IBC, and IFC standards, and developing bid-ready construction drawings and technical specifications. All designs must be stamped by a licensed electrical engineer familiar with Washington State fire alarm requirements and must integrate smoothly with existing infrastructure to ensure standardized maintenance and operations. Proposals are due by November 10, 2026, via the OpenGov platform and will be evaluated by a committee of at least three County employees using a points-based system. The evaluation criteria are equally weighted at 20 percent each across four categories: firm qualifications (including NICET certifications and licensed engineer availability), responsiveness and capacity to begin work within 30 days, regulatory compliance and permitting records, and the clarity and detail of blueprint designs. Applicants must provide a statement of qualifications, three public agency references from the last five years, and resumes of key personnel. The contract is administered by Matt Patana, Capital Infrastructure Specialist, based in Chehalis, Washington.

Custom Integrated Robotic System
Solicitation # PWS-RD-TS-TSE
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency intends to award a firm-fixed-price, sole-source contract to Rocky Mountain Unmanned Systems LLC for the design, engineering, and delivery of a functional prototype Custom-Integrated Robotic System. This research and development effort requires a robotic platform capable of autonomous navigation in hazardous environments to generate real-time, three-dimensional hazardous atmosphere maps. The project centers on a complex software integration task that fuses data from a government-furnished multi-gas chemical detector, a commercial quadrupedal robot, a survey-grade 3D LiDAR sensor, and a tactical mesh networking radio. The agency is utilizing sole-source authority because Rocky Mountain Unmanned Systems is identified as the only vendor with the proprietary software framework and demonstrated experience necessary to integrate these specific data streams without causing unacceptable schedule delays. While the hardware is commercial-off-the-shelf, the specialized data-fusion architecture is unique to the vendor. Although this is not a request for competitive proposals, other responsible sources may submit capability statements by October 22, 2026, provided they can prove they possess the required pre-existing software capabilities.

The North American Industry Classification System code 334511 indicates the work involves the manufacturing of computer and peripheral equipment, specifically tailored for advanced network infrastructure needs. The contract supports modernization efforts within DTRA’s cybersecurity infrastructure by replacing aging systems with next-generation hardware that enables deeper packet capture, metadata extraction, and real-time network intelligence. Performance is tied to operational readiness at the designated defense facilities and requires precise alignment with existing network architectures and security protocols. Although no specific award amount or contractor name is provided, the focus on platform compatibility, reliability, and integration within secure environments underscores the mission-critical nature of the hardware deployment. This effort ensures continuity and enhanced capability for DTRA’s network operations under the ongoing SecureNet modernization initiative.
