The Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) plans to acquire a limited number of articulated sensors featuring a third axis of motion to be integrated with existing Eddy Current non-destructive test equipment. These sensors are intended for use at two specific locations: Dynamic Flowform in Billerica, Massachusetts, and Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Maryland. The procurement is a sole-source contract awarded exclusively to Laser Techniques Company (LTC), the original developer and sole manufacturer of the Eddy Current system currently employed at Dynamic Flowform for inspecting 81mm mortar tubes. Given LTC’s unique expertise and prior involvement in designing, testing, and producing the system, they possess the essential knowledge required to implement the necessary design modifications to meet the specific requirements of the U.S. Marine Corps. This contract supports the continuation and enhancement of a specialized testing capability critical to the maintenance and evaluation of mortar tubes using Eddy Current technology. The solicitation number for this procurement is M6785411R1000, categorized under NAICS code 334419, and it is managed by the Department of Defense office located in Quantico, Virginia. By awarding this sole-source procurement, the MCSC ensures that the technical standards and compatibility of the articulated sensor align with existing equipment, facilitating accurate and reliable non-destructive testing operations.
