AI Contract Overview
The Albuquerque Area Indian Health Service is procuring automated temperature monitoring services on a sole source basis from Sensoscientific, LLC, to maintain the continuous, uninterrupted operation of its proprietary temperature monitoring systems across all healthcare facilities in the region. These systems are fully integrated into facility workflows and are essential for monitoring the temperature of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and other temperature-sensitive medical supplies to ensure patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational continuity. Sensoscientific is the exclusive manufacturer and provider of the hardware, software, and proprietary technology used in these systems, and no other vendor can provide compatible replacements, maintenance, or support without requiring a complete and disruptive system overhaul. Replacing the existing infrastructure with an alternative solution would result in significant operational risks, including potential data loss, staff retraining, extended downtime, and critical gaps in monitoring that could compromise the integrity of medical products and endanger patient health. The procurement is justified under FAR 12.201-1 due to the technical exclusivity and incompatibility of the Sensoscientific system, making it the only practicable source capable of fulfilling the Government's requirements without unacceptable disruption. The contract is a firm-fixed-price agreement valued at $24,698.00 for a one-year period from February 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027, with no option periods, and services will be performed entirely at Albuquerque Area IHS facilities in New Mexico. The contracting officer, Stephanie Begay, has certified the sole source nature of this acquisition based on extensive market research confirming the absence of viable alternatives, and the Government has determined that any deviation from Sensoscientific would not be in the interest of operational stability or public health.

Full Description
The Albuquerque Area Indian Health Service (IHS) healthcare facilities currently utilize Sensoscientific automated temperature monitoring systems, including proprietary sensors, probes, and software, to continuously monitor temperature-sensitive medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and supplies. These systems are fully deployed, operational, and integrated into facility workflows to ensure patient safety, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted healthcare operations.
Sensoscientific is the sole proprietor and manufacturer of the installed monitoring systems and associated proprietary software. The software is not open-source and is not compatible with products or services from other manufacturers or vendors. No other source is authorized or technically capable of managing, integrating, servicing, maintaining, or providing replacement components for Sensoscientific systems. As a result, no other vendor can meet the Government’s minimum requirements without requiring complete system replacement.
Replacing the existing Sensoscientific systems with an alternative product would result in significant disruption to operations, increased costs, retraining of staff, potential data loss, and possible lapses in continuous temperature monitoring. Such disruption would pose unacceptable risks to patient safety, compliance with healthcare and storage standards, and continuity of care across Albuquerque Area IHS facilities.
Accordingly, only one source is reasonably available to fulfill the requirement. Procurement from Sensoscientific is necessary to maintain system compatibility, ensure continuity of automated temperature monitoring services, and meet the Government’s operational and regulatory requirements. Use of another source is not practicable, as no alternative vendor can provide supplies or services that are functionally compatible with the existing Sensoscientific infrastructure.
