The Cedar Rapids Community School District is soliciting bids for a purpose-built boom mower system designed for roadside and right-of-way vegetation management, with optional attachments including a front-mounted debris blower, flotation tires, an additional counterweight package, and a snowplow attachment. The primary equipment must feature a 26-foot boom arm with a minimum 60-inch cutting width, articulation capability of approximately ±45 degrees, a turbocharged diesel engine of at least 150 horsepower compliant with EPA Tier IV Final standards, a hydrostatic transmission, full-time four-wheel drive, ROPS and FOPS certification to ISO 3471 and ISO 3449, a climate-controlled cab with a polycarbonate right-side window, a 10-inch color touchscreen interface, and an integrated AM/FM audio system with Bluetooth. Safety features include LED headlights, turn signals, brake lights, a Class 1 strobe package with directional bar and auxiliary strobes, a rear-view camera, and an audible backup alarm. The unit must be delivered fully assembled, tested, and ready for operation, with integrated counterweights rated between 3,000 and 3,500 pounds, and an extended service warranty covering the engine and emissions system for at least five years or 6,000 hours, including parts and labor. All vendors must provide comprehensive operator and safety training and submit all required manuals and documentation upon delivery. Bids must be submitted electronically through the IonWave portal by 11:00 a.m. CST on July 1, 2026; submissions via email, fax, or hard copy will be rejected. Vendors are responsible for ensuring timely and accurate submission, and the District is not liable for technical errors or delays. Bids may be withdrawn prior to the deadline but cannot be modified or withdrawn for 60 days after submission. The District reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive informalities, and award contracts based on best overall value, considering technical compliance, equivalency to specifications, warranty terms, and the potential for an on-site equipment demonstration at no cost to the District.
