Azusa Avenue Pedestrian Handicap Accessibility & Signal Synchronization Improvements Project

The City of West Covina is planning comprehensive infrastructure upgrades along Azusa Avenue to enhance pedestrian accessibility and traffic signal efficiency. The project includes constructing and upgrading sidewalks, driveway approaches, curb and gutter systems, curb ramps, push button stations, crosswalks, leading pedestrian intervals, pedestrian countdown timers, and installing LED streetlights to meet ADA standards and improve safety for all users. Simultaneously, traffic signal synchronization will be implemented at 19 key intersections through modifications to signal poles, mast arms, cabinets, controllers, and conduits, while also improving signal interconnectivity to optimize traffic flow and reduce congestion. Additional work involves pavement rehabilitation with new striping and signage to support the updated infrastructure. All improvements are tied to DEMO ID CA985 and aim to create a cohesive, modern transportation corridor that prioritizes pedestrian safety and traffic efficiency. The project is forecasted for future procurement with no set-aside specifications currently defined, and all work will be performed in West Covina, California.
