The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a purchase order to Washington State University, Peter Hooper GeoAnalytical Laboratory, for major and trace element analysis of one geological sample using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).

The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul (RFO) implementation guidance and applicable FAR Part 5 publicizing requirements, including FAR Subpart 5.2.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement for consideration by the Government. Responses received will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based upon responses received is entirely at the discretion of the Government. No solicitation will be issued.
