Barton Beach Mobility Mat Installation

The California Tahoe Conservancy is managing the Barton Beach Mobility Mat Installation project in South Lake Tahoe, California. The project involves the annual installation of a temporary, seasonal mobility mat, measuring up to 50 feet long by 6.5 feet wide, to provide a stabilized walkway for individuals with varying physical mobility. The mat will extend from an existing dirt trail toward the water and will be in place each year from approximately Memorial Day through Labor Day. As part of the project requirements, the Conservancy will also transfer 488 square feet of restoration credit to El Dorado County Assessor Number 026-023-006. The project is classified as a forecast and is designated as exempt under CEQA Categorical Exemption Section 15301 Class 1, as it involves minor, temporary alterations to existing facilities with negligible expansion of use. Administrative oversight is led by Kristin Anderson, the Recreation and Public Access Planner. The project is located west of the terminus of Lakeview Avenue in South Lake Tahoe.
