The Naval Air Systems Command awarded a contract under Basic Ordering Agreement N00019-13-G-0008 to BAE Systems Aerospace and Defense Group for the production of 125 A/P22P-20 Parachute Survival Ensembles. This comprehensive order includes the manufacturing of associated subsystems, components, and related assemblies, as well as the provision of engineering, logistics, and program management support services for the U.S. Navy. The period of performance for this agreement spans from September 3, 2014, to March 1, 2018. Due to BAE Systems being the sole designer, developer, and integrator of the equipment, the contract was awarded as a sole-source procurement under the authority of Title 10, U.S. Code 2304 (c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1. The government determined that BAE Systems is the only responsible source capable of fulfilling the requirements because of its proprietary technical documentation, specialized facilities, and unique manufacturing expertise.
