This contract involves the procurement of 63 units of the Bearing, Roller, Cylinder #5, specifically designed for the F100-PW-229 engine used in military aircraft. The United States Air Force, through the Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma, is seeking to acquire these bearings as a strategic, one-time full and open competition purchase. The items are critical spare parts, with a focus on roller elements made from 725 Steel and cages from AMS 6415 steel, supporting the fan drive turbine module of the engine. The contract is a firm fixed-price arrangement, with an initial delivery of 62 units scheduled for January 31, 2027, and the final unit's delivery date to be determined, though early delivery is acceptable. The procurement process emphasizes the importance of qualified sources, requiring potential vendors to have prior approval and to submit qualification requests promptly, as the government may award the contract before completing source approval reviews. The solicitation is set to be issued on December 9, 2024, with responses due by January 10, 2025, and will be conducted electronically via sam.gov. The contract is contingent upon the availability of appropriated funds, and the government emphasizes that no legal obligation exists until funds are allocated and confirmed in writing. Interested vendors must be approved sources under FAR 52.209-1, and the process for submitting qualification packages involves secure electronic methods through DoD SAFE. An appointed Ombudsman is available to address concerns during the proposal development phase, ensuring confidentiality and fair communication. This procurement continues a series of previous awards dating back to 2017, indicating ongoing maintenance and supply efforts for the F100-PW-229 engine components.
