BE NEW.CONTAINERS DELIVERED UNDER CONTRACT SHALL HAVE A MANUFACTURE DATE NOT EXCEEDING TWELVE (12) MONTHS FROM THE
DATE OF CONTRACTACCEPTANCE.
B: ALL EXTERIOR STRUCTURAL METAL SURFACES SHALL BE 14 GAUGE CORRUGATED STEEL IAW ASTM A588, OR ASTM A606, OR ASTMA847.
C: END FRAMES SHALL BE 7 GAUGE STEEL.
D: THE CONTAINER SHALL HAVE, AT A MINIMUM, ONE (1) SET OF FORKLIFT POCKETS DESIGNED TO LIFT THE CONTAINER IN A LADENED
CONDITION. THE FORKLIFT POCKETS SHALL BE PLACED ON THE ROADWAY SIDE OF THE CONTAINER AND SHALL BELABELED FOR THE USE
OF LIFTING A LADENED CONTAINER. SHOULD AN ADDITIONAL SET OF FORKLIFT POCKETS BE PROVIDED FOR LIFTING THECONTAINER IN
AN UNLADENED STATE, THE FORKLIFT POCKETS SHALL BE LABELED ACCORDINGLY. FORKLIFT POCKETS SHALL MEET ALL REQUIREMENTS
OFISO 1496-1: SECTION 5.8.1 AND ANY/ALL OTHER SPECIFICATIONS, STANDARDS, AND AGREEMENTS.
E: THE CONTAINER SHALL HAVE TWO (2) PASSIVEVENTILATION VENTS.
F: CONTAINER SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF 16 CORNER POST TIE DOWN ANCHORS (8 FRONT, 8 DOOR) AND 8 UPPER AND LOWERLASHING
RINGS (24 TOTAL). ANCHORS AND LASHING RINGS SHALL BE WELDED IN POSITION AND EVENLY SPACED IN THEIR RESPECTIVE
POSITIONS.ADDITIONAL ANCHORS AND LASHING RINGS MAY BE REQUIRED AND SHALL BE NOTED ON THE SOLICITATION.

H: Exterior Paint Color – see continuation page for specific color. If a specific color is not provided, the exteriortop-coat color shall be Light Green (CHIP Number 34102). All paint colors shall be selected IAW AMS STD-595. Interior Paint Color –see continuation page for specific color. If specific color is not provided, the interior topcoat color shall be Gray (CHIP Number36622). Internal Custom Plate Color must be in a contrasting color from the interior of the container. If specific color is notprovided, the Internal Custom Plate color shall be Olive Drab (CHIP Number 14087). Interior wood floor color/finish – All interiorwood/lumber floors shall be marine grade plywood and shall have a clear/transparent finish unless otherwise stated on thesolicitation. BAMBOO WOOD/LUMBER PRODUCTS SHALL NOT BE USED UNLESS SPECIFIED IN THE SOLICITATION AND/OR CONTRACT.
I: INTERIORMARKINGS SHALL BE BLACK (CHIP NUMBER 37038 IAW AMS-STD-595) OR BEAD WELDED NOT LESS THAN ½ INCH HIGH ON EITHER THE TOP LEFT CORNERFITTING OR WITHIN AN AREA OF 18 INCHES FROM THE LEFT CORNER POST WHERE IT WILL NOT BE OBSCURED. ALL MARKINGS TO BE IAW ISO 6346 ANDHAVE A 5 YEAR MINIMUM LIFE.
J: TWO WEATHERTIGHT MANIFEST BOXES CAPABLE OF HOLDING AN 8.5” X 11” X 1.75” THICK DOCUMENT SHALL BEATTACHED SECURELY AND RIGIDLY TO THE CONTAINER. EACH MANIFEST BOX SHALL HAVE A HINGE-TYPE COVER AND BE PAINTED TO MATCH THECOORESPONDING WALL COLOR. ONE MANIFEST BOX SHALL BE ATTACHED TO THE INTERIOR SIDE OF THE CONTAINER ON THE RIGHT-HAND DOOR IN ALOCATION THAT SHALL NOT INTERFERE WITH THE PLACEMENT OF CARGO. ONE MANIFEST BOX SHALL BE PLACED ON A FLAT SURFACE OF THE EXTERIORSIDE OF THE CONTAINER ON THE RIGHT-HAND DOOR IN A LOCATION THAT SHALL NOT INTERFERE WITH FORKLIFT CARRIAGES AND BACKRESTS (IFEQUIPPED WITH SUCH EQUIPMENT).
K: BOTTOM RAIL PROTECTION IS REQUIRED.
L: INTERIOR WOOD FLOORS SHALL BE 1 1/8" THICK MARINE GRADEPLYWOOD. BAMBOO WOOD/LUMBER PRODUCTS SHALL NOT BE USED UNLESS SPECIFIED IN THE SOLICITATION AND/OR CONTRACT. FLOORS SHALL BEFORKLIFT TESTED AND CERTIFIED TO 16,000 LBS PER 44 SQUARE INCHES.
M: CSC PLATE, SAFETY PLATE, AND INSPECTION PLATE SHALL BECOMPLETED AND INSTALLED AS REQUIRED. ALL DATA FIELDS SHALL BE
INSPECTED FOR CORRECT DATA ENTRY INFORMATION BEFORE ACCEPTANCE BY THEGOVERNMENT.
N: ALL EXTERIOR DOOR HARDWARE SHALL BE PAINTED THE SAME COLOR AS THE EXTERIOR WALLS OF THE CONTAINER.
O: RESTRAINTSYSTEM SHORING SLOTS SHALL SUPPORT 2" X 6" LUMBER. SIDE BOTTOM RAIL PROTECTION SHALL CONSIST OF NOTCHES (4
TOTAL). THE OPEN RECESSES SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 2” H x 6” L.
P: CONTAINER SHALL HAVE 5 FRONT CORNER POST TIE-DOWNS (10 TOTAL) AND 5 DOOR CORNER POSTTIE-DOWNS (10 TOTAL). TIE-DOWNS SHALL BE EVENLY SPACED AND WELDED IN THEIR RESPECTIVE POSITIONS.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A: ALLANCHORS AND LASHING RINGS SHALL BE TESTED/CERTIFIED IAW ISO 1161.
B: ALL ISO coding, identification, and markings (ISO 6346) shallbe stenciled on the container; no vinyl decals shall be applied. ISO markings shall be a contrasting color of the container.
C:Stenciling. US Army Registered BIC owner-code (USAU) shall be stenciled in six (6) locations per ISO 6346 in addition to thecurbside-inside wall.
D: Manufacture date: Container Year built date on CSC Safety Approval data plate shall not exceed 12 monthsfrom the date of awarded contract.
E: Year built. Manufacture date shall not exceed a year (12 months) from the awarded contractdate.

F: Customs catch. A plate shall be permanently affixed near the center edge of the outer door to preclude inner door openingwithout opening the outer door.
G: Door locking handle retainers shall be installed. Door locking handle retainers may be eitherfixed or pivoting hardware to hold the locking handle in the closed position and provide a means to place a lock and/or securityseal on both doors.
H: An elongated door handle hub (sometimes referred to as a “security hub”) shall extend a minimum of 25mmbelow the rivet hole or pivot point and shall be installed on the righthand door to prevent the handle from being removed even ifthe rivet is removed.
I: The door hinges shall either be welded to the door panel or, if affixed with fasteners, affixed with TIRapproved fasteners that are further protected from removal by a suitable shield or equivalent design feature. Hinge pin shall bewelded in place or otherwise protected to preclude removal.
J: A securing plate (also known as “custom plate”) shall be installedon the inside, above the mid-point, of the left door. This plate shall be painted in a contrasting color, so it is readily visiblewhen the righthand door is opened. Other design features that form an “interlock” between the two doors or otherwise precludemanipulation and opening of the unsealed door without breaking the seal are equally acceptable.
K: All other anti-pilferageprovisions shall be installed in accordance with the most recent technical specifications, standards, and international agreementsand treaties.
L: All storage and cargo containers must be certified as compliant to the rules, regulations, internationalagreements, and treaties associated with the INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION FOR SAFE CONTAINERS (CSC) and the INTERNATIONAL MARITIMEDANGEROUS GOODS (IMDG) standards.
CSC Safety Approval Data Plate Requirements:
A: In addition to the requirements below, seeattached serial plate diagram.
B: The Identification number on the CSC plate shall be the manufactures’ identification number andno longer the owners’ identification number.
C: The owners’ identification number shall appear in the owners’ identificationsection of the consolidated data plate.
D: The Manufacturers Identification number shall be marked on at least two of thefollowing locations:
-The top or rear face of the left rear corner fitting
-The top or front face of the left front cornerfitting
TECHNICAL, DATA, AND REFERENCE DOCUMENTS:
ATTENTION TO CONTRACTORS/SUPPLIERS: BE ADVISED, ALL ITEMS DELIVERED UNDER THETERMS OF THIS SOLICITATION AND/OR CONTRACT SHALL MEET OR EXCEED THE TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS LISTED WITHIN THE MOST RECENT REVISION OF THE APPLICABLE SPECIFICATIONS, STANDARDS, AND INTERNATIONAL TREATIES AND AGREEMENTS.
