2026 Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant
Solicitation # 2139681
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is administering the 2026 Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant Program, funded by a federal appropriation of 857,629 dollars. This program provides matching grants to eligible rural fire departments for the purchase of wildland firefighting suppression supplies. To be eligible, departments must be comprised of at least 80 percent volunteer personnel and serve a rural area, defined as a town or village with a population of 10,000 or less based on the 2020 Census. Selected departments can receive a maximum award of 3,500 dollars, which must be matched 50/50 by the recipient. Grant funds must be used for items directly related to wildland firefighting that benefit the local rural community, with a restriction that no individual item exceeds 9,999 dollars. Selection is based on the department's funding history over the previous five years, whether it is a newly formed establishment, and the presence of a Native American community within its jurisdiction. The program operates under federal guidelines from the US Forest Service and the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978. Applications are accepted through December 30, 2026. This solicitation does not have specific goals for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Minority, Women, or Disadvantaged Business Enterprises. All inquiries and applications are managed by the Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant Coordinator within the Division of Forest Protection.

The City of Jackson, Mississippi, has issued a solicitation for sealed bids to establish a 12-month contract for the supply of SUVs and pickups for the Jackson Fire Department for the 2024-2025 period. Bidders are required to submit their signed proposals by 3:30 P.M. on November 5, 2024, at the City Clerk’s Office, with public opening scheduled at City Hall. The contract aims to secure vehicles that meet the city's specifications, and bid documents are accessible online through the city’s official procurement websites or at the Purchasing Division. The city emphasizes its commitment to non-discrimination and equal business opportunities, requiring all bidders to submit a completed Equal Business Opportunity (EBO) Plan Application as a condition for award eligibility; failure to comply will disqualify a bid. The city reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities, with awards based on the lowest and best bid considering price, delivery time, and overall compliance with specifications. The evaluation may focus on the lowest total cost for all items or the lowest cost per item, depending on the city’s intent, which will be clarified in the bid documents. The contract size is estimated between $500,000 and $1,500,000. Interested parties can find additional details and submit their proposals through the provided online link. The procurement process underscores the city’s goal to ensure competitive, fair, and transparent awarding of the contract for essential fire department vehicles.
