The scope of work includes constructing improvements at Big Meadows Campground as follows: reconstructing and compacting 10 camp units (units 4, 6, 12, 14, 29, 30, 32, 34, 38 & 40) for accessibility at the easy/moderate access level, resetting campfire rings and food storage boxes as needed, and installing new accessible picnic tables. Parking spurs at those 10 camp units (4, 6, 12, 14, 29, 30, 32, 34, 38 & 40) will be reconstructed for accessibility and widened to 20 feet by 55 feet in length for accessibility. The double parking spur at unit 39 will be reconstructed to 36 x 50. Aggregate base rock will be placed on reconstructed parking spurs in preparation for paving by others. Water System work includes replacement of seven existing water faucets with accessible design and paved aprons, installing 7 drain valves, and extending a water line with backflow preventer and valve from the campground to nearby watering location for livestock. Additional work includes repair of block retaining wall at the existing vault restroom building near camp unit #8, and fabrication and installation of a painted metal railing at that location. Location is at the Big Meadows Campground, Georgetown Ranger District, Eldorado National Forest Cost of the project is approximately $25,000 to $100,000. Payment Bond will be required.
